Baby Zuki was a real elephant. He was rescued after being broken for elephant riding (a very nasty process). Unfortunately, baby Zuki, weakened from his ordeal did not survive. I take comfort that during his time in the sanctuary in Thailand he was able to romp, chain free with his herd, and his friends! This portrait illustrates his magical spirit, which, despite unspeakable damage done to his body- will never die.
